Thanks for your responses.
My question therefore being, if it is a 5 month vacation, do I need to carry proof, that during these 5 months I did not give up my residency (eg. proof of paying rent, bills, etc.) and that I didn't take up a job while I was out?
Or is it simply by word that...
Wik, you are right my question is related to 'extended absence', however, not quite > 180 days, more like a 5 month absence.
I understand that if the absence was more like a couple of weeks or a month or even two months there wouldn't be much questioning to do other than say 'welcome back'...
I was wondering if we could get a list of questions/experiences that people have encountered at the POE upon entering the US within:
(Please specify the type of visa used to acquire the green card and any documents you carried as proof)
1. 180 DAYS
2. > 180 DAYS < 365 DAYS
3. >...
My approval asked me to get an Infopass appointment and get my passport stamped, whereas my wife got this letter saying that card will be mailed.
We received our approvals at different times, she got her approval after I had my passport stamped.
We got our fingerprints together and did not...
Folks,
Please lend some advice. My wife (a derivative applicant) got her I-485 approved. Mine was approved earlier and my passport stamped. In her case, they sent an approval letter which has this message on it, "Your case has been approved. We will mail your alien registration card in...
Guys.
My wife's I-485 approval letter came in the mail. The letter states that '...this case has been approved and your alien registration card shall be mailed in 120 days...'
Doesn't my wife need to get her passport stamped and provide the photos/fingerprint? How do they expect to mail...
I recently had my passport stamped for I-485 approval, however, my wife's I-485 is pending. Therefore, her status is AOS Pending and mine is Green Card approved.
I now need to do an address change. Please help in answering the following questions.
1. Both of us need to file AR-11...
Folks,
My spouse's I-485 RFE is to provide as many documents as possible to represent a bona-fide marriage. Any ideas?
We don't have a rental agreement in our names, but how about these:
Credit card bills in our individual names but at the same address.
Letter from the bank stating...
I just got back from passport stamping.
Address change dialogue:
Officer: "Is the address listed on the I-797 where you reside?"
Me: "Yes, but I might move before the card reaches me, what do you think I should do?"
Officer: "Just cancel this address on the I-797 and write down...
I too received an RFE on my wife's 485 case. I think it would be safe to assume that they need a marriage certificate in my case as well (although I did send one earlier).
do tell us what the RFE is regarding. I see that your 485 was approved on 21st Jan 05, mine was approved on 24th Jan, 05. I hope to receive a RFE soon in that case.
Has anyone undergone this experience, whereby they had to do a change of address around the time of passport stamping?
In that case, what is the most advisable:
1. Should I file my AR-11 now and then go for the passport stamping in two weeks?
2. Should I just inform them when I go for...
Well thanks to your replies, at least this isn't a secluded case. It seems quite routine, since I learnt from my lawyer it can take from 2-6 weeks. Please post back if you see progress in this matter.
Also, please let us know what the RFE is regarding.
I had filed for my I140/485 and my spouse's 485 concurrently.
My 140/485 were approved concurrently, however, it's been a week and I haven't seen my wife's 485 approval.
Has anyone experienced this situation, if yes, how long did you have to wait before the spouse's 485 was approved...
I'm sorry guys I am not aware of my priority date, besides I am a case of substitute labor. I'll have to look up my priority date - will post it soon.
Secondly, I am from the country that is not affected by the retrogression, therefore I am not sure what the story is regarding 485...
Got the email today that my 140/485 were approved. There has been nothing in my life that has kept me as anxious as this email has kept me.
I have been a silent daily visitor of this forum for a long time and it seems only fair that I inform you about this so that it helps as reference point...
