    H1 receipt notice

My current H1 expires in about 10 days and H1 extension was filed on 9/8/04 at CSC. The lawyer has not yet received the receipt notices. Do you guys know if H1 receipt is required as proof of H1 application submission before current H1 expires? Thanks.
