Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with changing the last name after receiving US Passport. Here is my situation:
1. My wife has a different last name then me. She received her US Citizenship last year in October. During the interview, the USCIS officer refused to change her name saying...
I immigrated based on employment. Issuing birth certificate from India - hahaha it is a funny story. Yes, all attempts have failed. I think the biggest challenge is that the birth was never registered and the family back home does not live in the same district. Its a hassle if nothing.
Yes...
I am trying to sponsor my younger brother for GC who is here on H1B. Both me and my brother are missing birth certificates. When I immigrated, I had used an affidavit from my father and elder brother (my mom died 15 years ago). That affidavit did not have the name of my mother.
I need to...
My wife has a I-94 that expires in July 2007. She entered last year on Advance Parole and her GC is still not approved. Do we need to extend the I-94 somehow?

Mine was cleared the day it was sent. I got my GC almost a year back. My wife's has been stuck for the last 2 years and she has not received her GC because of that (and now it is also stuck in retrogression).
Not true .. my spouse is a dependent on my case and my GC is approved as EB2. So she is a EB2 case. I dont think FBI even know what category these cases are in.
I think some lawyer must now sue FBI for this. C'mon this is so stupid. The most advanced surveillance agency in the world does not have a good computer system to handle this small task. How the hell do they do other things ...
All:
My spouses name check has been delayed. Received an email from FBI today that her name check is still pending:
Dear XXX:
I am responding to your email dated January 11, 2005, concerning your name check status.
A review of the Name Check Program database revealed that a request...
You are not alone. My spouses name check has been pending (or this is what USCIS gives as the reason for not approving her GC) ... and my GC was approved over 6 months back. We have been sending emails to FBI since my GC approval and no response from them. I dont think you can do anything here...
You are not alone. My spouse's name check is also pending even though my GC has been approved over 6 months back. Can you believe it .. just hang in there. We have been sending emails to FBI for over 6 months now .. still no response.
My spouse has left her H1B job and taken up a new job on EAD. Last time when she entered USA, she was on H1B and her 1-94 is valid for the duration of H1B (valid till October 2006). Does she need to get a new I-94 as she is not on H1B any more.
Thanks !!!
Not true .. you can still appeal. Remember GC is for a future job and not for the present job. as long as your current employer is OK with sponsoring your GC even though you will ditch him for a new job, this will work as usual.
Let me be straight here:
1. You can have more then one labor...
Have patience. They may take upto 60 days. So have patience. Mine was reopened in 34 days .. but most MTRs reopen in 30-60 days. Usually after 60 days the chances are less.
The reason this may take time is that usually the MTR goes back to the same officer who denied and the officer may be on...
Orangetreats ..
Call a good lawyer ..
Look at this from Murthys chat:
s15: My wife has EAD but hasn't used it for employment. She only used EAD to get her Social Security Number. Does it mean that her H4 is no longer valid, as she has used EAD to get SSN? She is going to India in March...
