HuhGC, You can appeal for the denied I140. The receipt of appeal definitely gets you the H1 extension. In the meantime time can apply for another labor.

I had asked this to one of the Immigration Councellor last year and they suggest the same thing that the person carrying your passport should have a written letter from the holder of the passport. Sending PP by courier is not legal.
