The Travisa site says OCI application is 40 days from the time they sent to the Indian consulate for NY. Are they processing faster than consulate? Are the visas printed in NY nowadays? I am traveling end of April and have to choose between PIO and OCI, at the same time apprehensive about...

Transfer of OCI visa to new passport

I got a new passport and called up the consulate to transfer the OCI visa from old PP to the new one. Guess what? They have no procedure to transfer OCI visa like other visas, instead I have to apply Part A and Part B just like a new app. It goes to India and comes back just like a new app...

I Lost My Original Citizenship Paper

I guess I can answermy own questions: 1. Yes. US Passport agency issued a temporary 1 year passport. They would need to see the naturalization certificate to issue a 10 year PP. 2. Couldnt find any means. Wrote to the Senator and just got an acknowledgement that he would enquire.

Paying INR rates at hotels and tourist attractions

Few months back the GOI did announce that they plan to remove the dual charging system for tourists as this was a discrimination. As usual the wheels of the Govt is slow to move. Atleast they have their hearts in the right place. Wait for 5 more years and we should see this implemented.

    3) Will there be any issues if I take the baby with me to India after 3 months? --> Not as long as you have a visa/PIO card for the baby. 4) Can I apply for OCI on behalf of the baby in India? --> Not sure. As per few posts in R2IClub, offices in India are refusing OCI to the kid stating one...
