Your status is AOS. I got university admission when I was still waiting for I-485 approval. I put "Adjustment of Status for Residency". When they questioned me, I sent them a copy of I-485 receipt notice. And, it was OK.

I usually parked at the shopping plaza across 79th street. Never had any problem. Just park at the lot without any number asigned.

Agree with mrao485. The best way is he gets stamp on passport in India and get his wife H4 visa to enter US. Don't agree with hathwar. Once you use AP to enter US, you give up your dual status. You can't use H1B any more. It doesn't matter with your EAD. So, be careful with this situation.
