Hey NSC,
Congratulations....I just saw your approval info, as my visits to this board have been less often lately. You've got your approval...sit back, relax and enjoy now.

It shouldn't really matter whether you have the stamp in your passport or a seperate card, so long as you have it. I think its an INS policy not to stamp the passport if it has a validity of less than 12 months. But this is not always followed. My passport was stamped in May'04 after the...
Yes, I think you can. Here's H1blayoff's recent experience(6/23).
Got I-EAD from Local office

Just back from the local office. The experience was not worth sharing.
Reached there around 7 am and saw...
Thankyou.
Well when I was there on 5/24, the Arlington office looked pretty normal to me. I didnt see any moving signs and the staff was working normally. I am not sure if they are scheduling any interviews, but I read somewhere on this forum that they are moving in August.

Yes, this usually indicates that the card is ready and is probably mailed already. My case is almost similiar to yours. Read the following thread for more information.

I dont think the lawyer will receive the interview letter, atleast my lawyer didn't. Applicant definitely receives the letter with the interview date and time, and a list of all the documents required. Usually they send a finger printing appointement also along with the interview letter, to be...
Gokulanand,
We never had any information about our I-181 before receiving the Welcome letters. Infact we didn't even know what it was. But from the dates it appears that our I-181 cases were created after our interview and approval and approved about a month later. As far as I know, the form...
Received Plastic Cards
Guys,
I am happy to report that my wife and I received our plastic cards within 5 weeks of our approvals. As some of you may remember, we had our interview and approvals on 5/24/04 at the Arlington, VA local office. We received the welcome letters(I-181) along with my...
Guys,

You are in somewhat a similar situation that I was in. First of all, from my experience I can tell you that the Service center can still approve your EAD/AP even after your 485 is transferred to a local office. My 485 was transferred on Nov 10 2003 to the local office and my third EAD was...
Don't worry too much, Washington D.C local office is not that bad. The average interview scheduling time is around six months. My case was transfered in Nov 2003 to this office and we had our interview and approval last month.
Hope this helps.

If the trip is truly urgent in nature, then you can approach the local office personally and request them to issue an AP immediately.
I had to do the same thing in March this year when my mother passed away and I didn't have an AP in hand(I never applied for an AP before that, though my 485...
Send them as many documents as you can. Include copies of all the school records, medical records and any other document that has your DOB listed. They are only looking for a secondary evidence to support your birth certificate. Your SSC certificate, being issued much earlier than the birth...
Does anybody know how long it takes to get the plastic card after the approval for the cases transferred to the Arlington office. I got approved and stamped after the interview on 5/24, and just wondering whether it takes the usual 3 to 6 months even for the transferred cases.
CMR
orca, thanks very much. I got so addicted to these boards, that I dont think I can leave even if I want to..:).
Congratulations to you too on your approval. I was away for over a month and missed many of the long timers' approvals here.
CMR
Star, thanks very much!
I hope the rest of the Dec'01 waiters, and all the other 485 waiters get their approvals very soon. BCIS seems to be picking up the pace lately, hopefully the 485 wait time will be reduced to under 1 year.

I received the interview letter on May 14th, the letter was dated May 11th. Yes I didn't have too much time before the interview, but it was enough to gather all the documents. I think Arlington office's current time frame for the interview is around six months. User Green2 was transferred at...
