    N-400 Naturalization question

I also wanted to ask about Part 10, question #3 of the N-400 form (How many times have you been married? Does this question include my current and only marriage? If so the answer is "1"? Or, are they only asking about previous and terminated marriages and the answer would be "0"? Thank you...

    N-400 Naturalization question

Hello, I am going to submit my Naturalization (N-400) application based on my 5 years of continued residency (I got my green card by myself, not by marriage). I know that besides form N-400, I have to submit a copy of my green card (front and back) and the payment. But, is it OK to also submit...

Birth certificate and marriage certificate - any issue date is fine?

Some countries... Some of us have reviewed the information on that link long ago and we can tell the consular officer has the last word about your case. Pryanik :)

Birth certificate and marriage certificate - any issue date is fine?

I mentioned in a previous post 3 months, from my experience with federal agencies they required documents or copies of them that are no older than 3 months. So I, personally, apply this to almost every paperwork just to be on the safe side. Pryanik :)

Birth certificate and marriage certificate - any issue date is fine?

Exactly! Birth certificates, in some countries, are updated with a note that shows your current civil status (married, divorced, etc.). So that is the reason these documents should be as new as possible... simply because you DO NOT know what the immigration officer/consul wants when he/she...

Birth certificate and marriage certificate - any issue date is fine?

Right Vladek! The newer the better! I, personally, wouldn't even show or file documents older than 3 months if I could. Pryanik :)

F1 student worked with SSN and won dv lottery

Assuming you're an international student, you got out of status the moment you started working off campus without authorization and getting paid. You will have to declare this on your application and since you went out of the F1 status you would be denied AOS. You need a lawyer but the main...

    DV 2013 AOS Only

Hi Nadya, Contact KCC first thing on Monday! Fill out the necessary forms and expedite them to KCC. In the meantime she has to call as soon as possible the nearest US consulate and explain the situation. There is nothing she can lose. There is a lot of information on the forums and you can...

    DV 2013 AOS Only

One thing is the "visa" and different one is the "visa number". They don't stamp "visas" in most cases when in AOS because it is a practice that has faded over time, they adjudicate the status though. There is no such thing as a "number of status". When the new status is adjudicated (approved)...

J1 to DV GC change of status

Hey! First of all, what does your DS-2019 says about your J1 status expiration, have you requested any extensions? This is the document that rules your status (as the I-20 for those under F-1) NOT the I-94 or the visa itself as I have read over here. You don't mention enough details that would...

    language interview

It IS definitely about you! She is the main applicant and your visa depends on hers, it's she who is going to be approved, you are just her dependant and if she is approved then you are too, if she is denied then you too. However, she will probably get it, as far as I know, the interview can be...

James! Congratulations! You will surely be approved soon. However, if you travel abroad you must use your advance parole and the H-1B approval. You've gotten this document because you are in the process of obtaining a Permanent Residency status. On another hand, the University won't accept...

DV lottery winners and J1 HRR waiver: please post your experiences

Zodiaco, I obtained the HRR waiver and, later on, I got the Green Card. You have filed with DoS but the original no objection statement is sent straight from the German Foreign Affairs Ministry to the German Consulate in Washington and from there it is sent to the DoS. What you have in hands is...
