If you provided email, they will send you an acknowledgement email with your passport # and the application number for each other the applicant. For me, it was a week after the documents were delivered.

you are right. Each consulates have their own form and their own way of interpreting the rules and establishing policies. Its almost impossible to get a hold of a live person and emails goes unanswered. Btw mine was through the Chicago Consulate.

We are trying to obtain a surrender certificate for the entire family which includes 3 adult (18+) children. Do each application require $20 (total of $100) mailing fee or is it just $20 per family?? Response is greatly appreciated.
