Wait till you become USC, keep your paperwork ready (vaccinations, photocopies etc etc.), believe me there is a lot of paperwork. File after you get your USC.
You should have applied for a renewal GC (or removal of conditions to be technically correct) 3 months prior to the 2nd anniversary of your GC (or 3 months prior to the GC expiration date). If this contition was met and your conditions were removed, then you would have got an unconditional GC...
Don't worry about number of days, just repond to the RFE promptly and you will be good. I was in a similar situation and post RFE response, the GC was almost immediately approved.
My timeline has been updated. I need to hunt for health insurance though. I live in Mass where health insurance is mandatory. Maybe a new thread is in order.
I concur with "acr", you WILL DEFINITELY need to send in the I-485 since that forms the basis of adjusting the status from visitor visa (which I assume your parents have) to the green card.
Look at my signature for the forms that I filed ( i had not filed for EAD since I was in the same boat...
Updating timeline on my signature. Mom's I-130 and I-485 were approved and the card production has been ordered. ETA is 30 days according to the notice.
Thanks everyone for the help during the application process.
The municipal authorities will only give you what is on the record. The non-availability is only where the registration records are not available. In my mom's case, the name of the child was not specified when the birth was registered and that is the reason for a blank.
I can try to get a...
Here is my plan as of now.
- Submit the BC that I have for mom (does not include her name and my grandparent's names have been misspelt)
- Submit a copy of her school leaving certificate that has her date of birth and the grandparent's correct name
- Submit a circular from the municipal...
I will not be able to get the non-availability since the BC is available albeit without the name. As per the latest municipal circular, a name cannot be added to the BC after 15 years of the event happening. I have a copy of the circular that I am planning submit.
I did submit the BC, but that was from the consulate general of NY-India. I have added a separate post with the complete details. Appreciate if you could post your thoughts on how I should go about answering the RFE.
Hi,
I received a RFE for BC for my mom's I485. I had filed a BC that I had obtained from the consulate general of NY. Here is my dilemma .
- My mom's BC does not have her name and my grandfather/grandmother's name are misspelt (by an alphabet) i.e. they don't match with the...
How do you get the non-availability certificate? I had submitted a birth cert. from NY consulate but still got a RFE for bc's. I am planning to get the affidavit done from the home country soon.
Hi,
I have a FP notice for my mom in 2 weeks time. Do you think I should do an early walk-in? Do I have to call in advance and let them know? The FP notice is in Boston, MA (portland street).
I asked my mom to write her name in the native alphabet in both the forms G325a and I think I 130 (if I am not mistaken). It is better to provide info. rather than leave it blank.
