Let me know if they renewed it with the extension.. I will have the same problem in a couple of years I'm afraid.
Worse case scenario you can get a passport stamp. They can't deny that one as a proof.
Yeah.. I was unlucky. A coworker of mine that sponsored for her husband said he also got a 5 year license. :(
I'm just hoping they will renew it with the extension letter once I have filed the I-751 or I'll be in trouble.. not knowing how to get to work!
Ok.. driver's license arrived pretty quick (8 days), but it expires in 2 years (when my Conditional GC expires).
Oh well.. I'm sure there will be a way to renew it when the time comes :)
I just passed the test for my CA driver's license after moving here from Illinois, and I'm kind of hoping it will be valid for 5 years instead of 2 (my Conditional Green Card expires on 2011).
Instead of calling, schedule an Infopass apointment through the USCIS website ASAP, so you can find out what happened to your case.
I'm very sorry about your situation, but before anything can be said, you need to know what is your current status on your application.
A conditional Green card is no different than a Permanent one with the only exception that you need to remember to file for the removal of conditions after 21 months in order not to loose your priviledge. It is best not to fall out of status, so I suggest you go for the conditional card.
Take your marriage license, that's the document that legalized your name change, not your driver's license.
Let us know how it went and if they gave you any hassles! :)
MOM1211 is correct.
Just resend the entire package with 2 checks, one for $ 355.00 and one for $ 1010.00 and you shouldn't have any problems. This will not influence your case.
Wow, I'm glad you had the stamp to prove their mistake! I wasn't given any stamp on the day of my interview, so if it had happened to me I'd probably still be fighting to get my plastic card mailed out!
Hey Mici, I have the same problem, but I was told to have your plane tickets match your passport's name, not the Green Card's, in order not to have any issues with the airline security points before the boarding gates.
Which makes sense.. they want to see your passport, not the Green Card at...
