My wife entered the U.S in early dec. 2008 on an immigrant visa and currently has a temporary 1-551 (a stamped Immigrant Visa). She got her SSC done in december but didn't receive her plastic GC before she left the U.S in the beginning of January (She has a temporary GC in her passport)...

Re:ssn I concur with Aywire. My wife entered the U.S on the 9th of december and applied for her SSN the very next day. You might want to make sure that you are going to the right office (the SSA).

The package with your second NL doesn't have the DS 230 nor the DS 122 included (where in the world did you hear that???). It has your Appointment letter, medical forms, Police report request document and further instructions.
