Good morning,
I'm a naturalized US citizen. I am planning on sponsoring permanent residency for my sister's family. I understand that the process takes over a decade. In the meantime, would my sister's family be able to obtain a visitor's visa to visit us?
Would a pending application for...
Have your parents ever appiled for a US immigrant visa though? Having a US born daughter doesn't construe as having an intent to immigrate. In our case the we've established that intent by applying for an immigrant visa.
Also, let's assume the my family gets their vistor's visa and then later...
It's a contradiction alright. But what are the consequences? Let's say we file for an immigrant petition (family based) and then they later go and apply for a visitor's visa. What happens next? Would the consular officer automatically deny the visitar visa application because of the...
That's what I thought. I know for certain that if someone is currently on a F-1 visa (non immigrant, single intent) visa, they can't apply for permanent residency (immigrant) resulting in a chage of intent. If the same person is on a H-1B (a dual intent visa unlike a F-1), then there's no...
I am about to file an immigrant petition (immediate family). I was wondering if there would be an issue if they go for a visitors visa after the immigrant petition is filed. Does this violate anything? i.e, immigrant petition pending (immigrant intent) and a visitor visa application (non...
Talked to IIO twice in last 6 months.
I got my first stamp in July 2001, Either Chiago INS or NSC lost my I-89 and so I went again in July 2002. I called the IIO again today and she said it is taking 1 to 2 years.
 Crazy, 2 years for that stupid card.

My friend works in Detroit (client) and his company's headquarters is based in Maryland, so the company filed his labor certification in Maryland SESA in June 2001 (no movement on his file so far). The company has offices throughout US. Is it possible to file his labor in some other state where...

I believe so. You can work on any number of jobs using your EAD, but make sure that you are still working full time for the sponsoring employer.
THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY AND I AM NOT AN EXPERT AND THIS IS NOT AN EXPERT\'S ADVICE. MY COMMENTS ARE BASED ON MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE.

I though Chicago INS office is open for business from Mon thru Thursday only. If you want, you can call Chicago INS at (312) 385-1500
Good Luck

Not really. You need to leave it with the airline\'s staff if you are flying out of US. Otherwise you just need to provide a photocopy of I-94 in all applications. You can also apply for a copy of your I-94 from INS. This will take months though.

No, nothing else is required. You are fine. If you need to travel outside US, you need to have an Advance Parole. Carry all copies of Advance Parole with you when you travel.

I contacted a senator\'s immigration aide here and he asked for time until last week of May, (they typically give INS 60 days to respond) and based on that he will take action. If we don\'t see anything in next 4 weeks, (We) are going to file a case. We checked about some pro bono...
villageMD, question for you?
I heard some lawyers deal with such cases, but I can not shell out thousands of dollars for the lawyer towards his/her fee. If you know any laywer who can help us, please let me know and we will definitely pursue the opportunity
Thanks

My wife\'s case is still pending at INS Nebraska.
RD: 08/2000 (Yes it is year 2000)
Case #: LIN 00-269-xxxxx
Contacted both senators and congressman. One senator\'s office is hopeless and the other senator has asked us to wait for one more month because they give 60 days worth of...

Residency for the purpose of tuition fee is different. It also differs from school to school. Community college might consider one, a resident as long as he/she either lives or works in the college\'s neighborhood. Some other universities want you to prove that you are willing to live...
