    Is your i-140 approved ? I don't think you can change your employer if your i-485 is not pending for more than 180 days. There might be a change if your 140 got approved.

    Ignore my previous comments. I think there is a way you can get out of this situation. If you look at the post http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=270186 one of the replies says that, you can leave the company even if your i-140 is not approved only when the company cooperates...

    I am sorry at your situation. I don't know why people keep on saying 180 days. If his 140 doesn't get approved then there is nothing he can do. The 180 days rule is only for 485 if your 140 is approved.
