Privateer,
I have the same question that justastudent wasn't sure about:
Provided that I obtain a re-entry permit, can I then cross the border with US for a daily trips without a problem or it is not allowed/recommended? In other words, is it OK to say to the custom/immigration officers at the...
I don't think that this is strictly re-inforced, especially if you don't have income in this country. My wife had some tax preparing experience and told me that there were people that have not been filling taxes for years but this doesn't deprive them from the citizenship. The worst that may...
Provided you have both citizenships you can live and work whenever you want because both countries allow for dual citizenship. The only thing is that you may loose some of the benefits that citizenship provides, for example there are some requirements about physically residing in the country if...
Thank you Baba. It shows a cut off number for July = 23,000. My number is 20xxx and I just sent the letter. Is it possible if they already went above my number not to consider me eligible anymore?
Yes they look. Not every time but some times they punch the names on the computer and check to see if something comes up. I guess the names will be cross-referenced in their database and they will come up even if changed. Otherwise it will be pretty dumb system :) So probably changing the names...
Thank you justastudent and Privateer,
Your advices are very helpful and I will keep them on the safe place for reference from now on. I didn't even know that this re-entry permit exists. If I have to stay outside for a long period I will definetelly use it. Sinse there is no exit control on the...
Yes, I will eventually move to US but have few reasons to delay it. First I want to find a work there because commuting thru the border everyday is not a pleasant experience with all the delays, alerts, etc. Second, at the time I will eventually receive the green card my son will be in his last...
Thank you Baba
Thank you Baba. Do you know how long it usually takes to receive the 2nd letter? And what is the time schedule for those letters and interview appointments in general?
It is strange for me too, provided that I received it in Canada, where the delivery from US should be faster than anywhere else. I just hope that it is not too late when they receive my letter, which may cause my number to be pulled out from the system. I also left the petitioner field blank...
Dear LucyMO,
I completely understand your statement that some people 'would move in a heartbeat'. I also understand that for the 99% of those people the reason will be just the economic gain for them and/or their families (especially for the people in Europe in which category I belong). The...
Hi,
Does anybody have experience with living in Canada and keeping the Green Card at the same time?
I live in a border city in Canada and use to go to US frequently (for friends visiting, shopping, etc.). Now after I received a notification for a Green Card winner I am worried how is this...
I applied by myself but this time I did it right in the beginning of the period as opose to previous years when I was applying sometime in the middle. I don't know if this really matters but it worked for me. Good luck!
My number is 2008EU00020XXX. I received my 1st letter June 1 (letter itself was dated April 24) and sent the reply just yesterday, July 8. Is it too late?
Instructions and Pictures
That is probably the case, there is no separate piece called 'Instructions ... ' but they are part of the 7 pager letter. Maybe they will send more detailed instructions if they eventually invite me for an interview.
What about pictures: is it ok to make them with my...
What about education vs. work and translations?
Thank you LucyMO, the link and search advice was very helpful.
I have few more questions:
1. Provided that my education level is above high school (university), is it safe to answer NO on the question about last 5 years work experince so I don't...
Instructions Needed
Thank you LucyMO,
Can you please direct me to a link where I can find those detailed instructions about police clearance, what kind of military records to produce, etc.
I will also send an email to the KCC but I am afraid they will delay it.
