There are No affects of applying for a Visitor visa now and then an OCI later. OCI should also not affect jobs. You have close to 3 months for the PIO. That seems to be enough time....

OCI may take more than 1 month and they require you to send a copy of the current Visa. If you want to make the trip, you may want to consider going to an office and speaking with the offcial.

You can still maintain the accounts based on your USC. OCI is not a must. In India there will be a TDS on NRE accounts. 1/3rd will be cut. You will have to file a return and claim the money back if it is due... in US, I believe, you have to show your income in India (interest paid) and claim...
