My I94 ??? and the confusion it created at the SS office

I have had the similar case. If you got your asylum via I-730 as a derivative asylee, your I-94 will have no number. Social Security Office makes a big deal out of it even though it is not a mistake - USCIS will not issue I-94 with number. Get EAD based on asylum and SSA will accept it nicely.

Mariage and DV Lottery; I-130 or Follow-to-join

Thanks for your response. That confuses me is this statement: "[B]If you were married before you became a lawful permanent resident, and your spouse did not physically accompany you to the U.S., your spouse may be eligible for following-to-join benefits." Is he considered a lawful permanent...

Mariage and DV Lottery; I-130 or Follow-to-join

Hello Everyone, I have searched this forum but was unable to find any specific information about the following: (if this question was already covered, please, post the link.) My brother-in-law won DV Lottery, had passed interview and got immigrant visa. He has to take trip to US within 6...

Two of my friends got letters. One gave my address in US - EU007XXX - Mid April 08. Other gave his home address and got it early May 08 - EU003XXX. :)

New bill to replace the diversity visa lottery

If this bill passes then it will likely influence Dv2010 program. As someone pointed out it is not going to make sense to abolish DV 2009 as State Department has already started the process. Although there might be a probability of lawsuit that might challenge the validity of the effective date...

    Affidavit of Support-italian case

according to i-134 form tax return is only required for past year for self-employed sponsor. as far as bank account, uscis needs date accountwas opened, total amount deposited for past year (i guess to prevent suspicious last minuted deposits) and current balance. Look at the form below...

    Affidavit of support

Excellent point. There is a difference between I-134 and I-864. I-134 seems to be a lot easier and less burdensome than I-864. I-134 is for DV applicants and other visa applicants only.

    Pending asylum case

Your case is too complicated and you might want to consult with qualfied immigration attorney. On one hand, if BIA will grant approval, then you will get your asylum and can apply for AOS within one year. On another hand, winning DV is the easiest way to get GC. There will not be problem if...

    Affidavit of support

Form I-134 only lists US citizens or LPRs (green-card holders) under item #1. I do not believe Canadian might be qualified although you might want to check with US based immigration attorney.

Name check Pending for Huband not Wife

I did not realize it until I went to see a friend of mine to niagara falls canada and we were crossing back to US and he was stopped and returned back to Canada. I guess Canadians did not press too much as all they care is their citizens.

Name check Pending for Huband not Wife

US LPRs can visit Canada without visa, but most canadian PRs not except for below: SEE: Permanent residents (aka landed immigrants) of Canada must have a nonimmigrant visa unless the permanent resident is a national of a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), meets the VWP...

Affidavit of Support Question - Oath or Affirmation of Sponsor

Actually the form I-134 states the following in respect to filing: To file this form, it needs to be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer at any USCIS Office, by a notary public, or other official authorized to administer oaths for general purposes. If the sponsor is outside the United...

Name check Pending for Huband not Wife

That's a good idea. This is the alternate way for you to get permanent residence as she can sponsor you for family unification. However, be mindful that if she will be absent from US for more than 6-12 months she might be required to get reentry permit otherwise she might risk losing her...

    Affidavit of Support-italian case

Sounds good. Signed letter from the bank should be sufficient evidence for presence of enough funds. Be prepared that USCIS / SOS might contact your cousin about affidavit and be prepared for it. Make sure all taxes - local and federal are paid and there is no pending legal actions and things...

    Affidavit of Support-italian case

I am not 100% sure but I guess that this affidavit should be signed in front of the notary. Notary will usually certify that she is who she is and very all documents. You might want to check with immigration attorneys there in LA just to be on the safe side. Also, be mindful that affidavit of...

    Affidavit of support

1.How much money should my sponsor hav in his possesion to eligible to fill an affidavit of support on my behalf ? There is really no set amount. However, some considerations should be in play when you select a person who will file affidavit for you: a-individual must be LPR (greencard...

What Questions are asked in the interview? Questions for DV 2006-2008 Winners

That's true. However, based on my experience with SOS and USCIS you never know what to expect from them. sometimes they do not do any checking; at other times they check everything going back to your ancestors. (security clearance for fed jobs is the primary example) If one lives in small...

Thanks for your feedback. I wil ask them to start police certificate quest now as both of them lived in different parts of their countries and it might make things more complicated. I hope that there will be no problems for both of them to give my address. I think I can easiely accomodate...
