I think using EAD is fine, except your emplyer is willing to pay the fee for your H1 extension. We stopped our H1B after we got EADs (and renew EADs). we got I-485 approved even through we had RFEs (for both) before approval. you already have your I-140 done, you should be fine to get I485...

go get your the biometric, then you will get your card before your travel. the biometric will be used for your card. the sooner, the better. don't wait for your approved letter. we did it before the approval, we got card already. my daughter didn't do it, still waiting for notice and card.

we got our I485 approved last week, and the notice said we'll get another notice if required biometrics, it also said don't take any action now... lots of people here talk about passport stamp, should we or can we get stamp before get further notice and HOW????? :confused: Thanks!

You will get approval e-mails this week. NSC got my response for RFE on 6/22 and approved my I485 on 6/23, actually I got more than ten e-mails last Friday(6/24) said that my case has been approved on 6/23, is that cool!? so good luck to you!
