Thanks aero for the detailed response (twice :-)). I was just curious. From the responses here it appears that marriage based cases are scrutinized far more deeply (not a surprise) and that just about any document under the sun is absolutely fair game (in the eyes of the USCIS, that is)...
I applied for this letter (didn't want to take any chances with the USCIS - they are inconsistent with this) in early Feb 2008 and received the status letter about 2.5 weeks later. It was a breeze, thankfully, for me, but other people have had other kinds of experiences.
I did send the SS...
Yes, she has already gotten the three letters (the so called NORI) from three different govt authorities in India (and sure enough, this was a huge challenge - but she initiated the process about two years ago), submitted to the Chicago Consulate and already received the Waiver Certificate from...
Her teaching is also not supported by any funding (NIH, NEA or anything like that). It is purley a salary from the U of M for teaching a course in music.

I understand. Just to clarify further - she does not have USAID, Fulbright or any such fellowship. She is not here for research but purely for teaching purposes and is paid a salary on the payroll of the University of Minnesota.
I found this definition of US Government funding at the Cornell...
Has anyone experienced issues on the AR-11 front? To my knowledge most people aren't even aware of it. I last moved in May 2002 and at that time this wasn't even a law (this one came into effect only after Sep 11, 2002). So should I be sending AR-11 in now (nearly seven years later)?

All,
If one were to get married after the ID but before the OD, does one have to update their N400 with all the particulars of the marriage? As far as I know the only updates at the oath are regarding the questions related to criminal issues and or moral issues. No name change is requested...
Add St. Paul, MN DO to this list. I was interviewed on 11/17 but no OL yet. I was told at the end of the interview to wait 2-3 months for the OL to arrive.

Sorry about the typos: she is employed by one of the academic departments at a US university and is employed as a visiting professor. Just to clarify further.
Hi,
A friend of mine has applied for her J-1 waiver through the "No Objection Letter" route. She has not received any fnding from the government of her home country. She is on salary from an academic department at a local university. Is this considered funding from the US GOvernment? I think...
Just trying to get this thread to move up in the list of discussion threads.
Anyone else with any updates on their Oath Letter situation/s?
Thanks all.
My ID was 11/18/2008
PD was 12/4/2006 (yeah - that long ago)

I know how frutsrating this is. Mine came in 2 weeks exactly after second FP. Typically it has been 2-3 weeks for many people in this area (St Paul DO).
Hope your's will come soon. Keep up the hope. All the best.

I know a friend who obtained the three NORIs from the various Indian authorities - these were obtained in late 2006 and early 2007 (so two years old now). She waited to apply for her J-1 waiver until recently and sent the NORIs to the appropriate Indian consulate (praying they won't make a fuss...
Are you sure about this? That one can apply for AOS/GC after getting the No Objection letter from the DoS? In other words, one doesn't have to wait until the USCIS Waiver approval comes through, to apply for AOS?

Congrats abdahm001!
When was your interview? While there is no strict correlation, mine was on Nov 18. I know someone with a Nov 10 interview too, waiting for the OL.
