    Question about sponsor

Hi Britsimon, Thank you for your reply. Yeah I know it's not technically required, but the embassy where I process it does require it as a matter of routine apparently. On top of that, I am not able to provide proof of funds over $10k, even though I'll be completely independent (my parents...

    Question about sponsor

Hi guys! I was under the impression that the sponsor must be either a citizen of the US or a PR. But today my father was at the US embassy and the official told him my sibling (who is neither, but is a legal non-immigrant resident of the US) can sponsor me. So of course I was totally confused...

Entrant Status Check is currently experiencing technical difficulties

It works fine for me; I still get the same notification message. It was probably just a glitch earlier.

HELP!! wrong birth year on the original application of DV 2014

You have to notify them and explain the discrepancy. Then you hope for the best. At the interview, you'll have to bring the original birth certificate, and the officer will see the two dates (Julian and Gregorian) on it so if you get asked about the discrepancy, you can explain to him/her...

Congratulations! Why do they need transcripts though? The requirement is for a diploma, not specific grades or transcripts

    DV 2014 - Africa winners

Yes you need the police clearance from both Nigeria and South Africa. All information you supplied to the US embassy will be brought up - it's in their database. So if there are any lies you told, etc, watch out. Even if you have $10,000, get an affidavit of support if you can. $10,000 for 1...

    DV Lottery Questions

With your number, you'll likely only be interviewed in August or even more likely, September 2014. So at that point you'll only have 1 year left of your program. Once the visa is given, you have 6 months to go to the US to activate your permanent residency. So you can go to the US in December...

    DV 2014 - Africa winners

With that number, if all goes well and all numbers get current next year, you'll be interviewed in August or September (probably September). I've seen numbers even higher than yours (117xxx and above) so stay positive.

    DV 2014 - Africa winners

Welcome Samyoussef You need a police report from both South Korea and Egypt. Normally if you have never served in the military then you don't present any documents. But from what I recall, all Egyptian males have to serve so since you have the document showing you were exempted, you should...

Yeah I just saw that in the link, hence my edit. I thought it was like regular visa fees, my mistake.

Step-by-step consular processing (CP) instructions for DV lottery winners

I think it depends on the country. I'm pretty sure (99%) that in Ethiopia for instance, you pay at the consulate. I think it's going to be similar in other developing countries. eta: I see that it's something new from 2013 onwards, so it would be interesting to see how it's happening now. My...

Step-by-step consular processing (CP) instructions for DV lottery winners

From my understanding, yes. But that's only paid if you're granted the visa. So it's $330/person when submitting your documents the day of the interview - this is paid by every single applicant who gets interviewed. In fact, the interview won't happen without you paying first. Then if you're...

    Documents Translation for interview

I'm pretty sure you don't need a lawyer or a translation company. Find someone who speaks/writes English well and let them translate it. Then they can sign that they are competent in English and provided the translation, plus include their name and address.

DS- 230 part II missing information in answer

I don't see why it would, but at the same time, don't send multiple corrections. Take your time to review all your information, then put all your corrections in one email.

Step-by-step consular processing (CP) instructions for DV lottery winners

Sm1smom is correct. You don't send any fee to anyone. That's only for people doing AOS. For CP, you pay the fee at the embassy the day of your interview.

Step-by-step consular processing (CP) instructions for DV lottery winners

In addition to Sm1smom's corrections: 1. You also must send the barcode page from your 1st notification letter. Your 2 photos must be 2 inches by 2 inches (American passport photos) 5. For police records: check with your particular embassy. I emailed the US Embassy in Ethiopia and they told me...

2014 DV Uganda winners meet here.

The petitioner is YOU. This is made very clear. Other immigrant categories, through family or employment, require someone else to make a petition on your behalf. For DV applicants, you are the only petitioner, there isn't a US Citizen or permanent resident who is filing an application to claim you.
