apparently USCIS now don't require new fingerprints for Asylees i-485

This should be the default situation. Fingerprints/biometrics never change so it’s pointless to make someone take multiple biometrics. I think it’s governments way to keep the ASC people employed. I have seen 3-4 people working there including a security guard - a complete waste of resources IMO.

I got a traffic ticket before my oath ceremony...please help!!

There is a question on the N 445 related to citations, arrests, fines etc where you will have to check “yes”. Nominal Traffic violations usually do not exclude someone from naturalization and the officer has some discretion whether to allow you to take the oath. However they will ask you...

I suggest you upload the selective service registration as additional documents so that they have it before hand (if you applied online). I think same day oath is happening for very few offices like Baltimore.

Will the new upcoming rule affect my pending application?

This means that people who applied before March 24th can reasonably expect to be apply for EAD under 150 day rule. They can send their application on Aug 24th assuming one day for delivery by express mail.

Will the new upcoming rule affect my pending application?

I have read blogs of a couple of lawyers who say that the rules will be applied retroactively and will encompass applicants whose applications are pending. Let’s hope for the best, no one knows clearly right now.

    Citizenship process taking too long

If the case is pending for over two years, it’s ripe for a writ of mandamus, otherwise you will end up waiting for years. They will process your case within 60-90 days guaranteed. However You need to evaluate your immigration history with a lawyer before you do that to see that there aren’t any...

    Child Neglect

i maybe wrong but my understanding is that the only time a suspect is detained at home when the police has a lawful warrant to enter and search the premises. If the police enter without a warrant and you let them in voluntaril, they have no legal right to be on your property and you can ask them...

You are right. Nothing was clear. That’s why I asked him some specific basic questions. I think it’s pretty clear now.

The attached letter solves the mystery of OP’s citizenship. It seems like his mother could use the US government employee or armed forces exemption for fulfilling the physical presence requirements...

@Eddieboy If you want a better answer, I think you should answer some basic questions. 1. Do you have a US passport? 2. Were you married to the children’s mother when they were born? 3. Is their mother a US citizen? 4 Did you ever live in the US BEFORE your children were born? 5. On what visa...

Changes Coming on Aug 21- Be Aware

Never heard of Witches companies-is that some kind of colloquialism? Anyway, the whole point is that hiring Americans first does make good sense, and has been the democratic platform as well. The HB1 visa and EB GCs are not good for employees or Americans, the only ones who prosper are the...

Changes Coming on Aug 21- Be Aware

i recall reading that the “merit based system” is related to employment visas being granted to highest salaries rather than by lottery. This can be done by EO or rule making. I dont think it will affect asylum but who knows what else is in there. The HB1 visa and EB based green cards are highly...

    N400 2019-2020 Asylee Tracker

7 -8K sounds like a big amount but is nothing compared to what I spent. I guess just the fees (around 1K for GC, ~ 500 for each RP, 640 for n400 plus lawyer fees - I was referred to IJ and spent around 3 years in just the asylum process, then again I had to sue for N400). I think I was...

@7of9 believe me, from what I have heard it’s still not bad. someone I know had been waiting for an asylum interview for 4.5 years (2016) and it was finally scheduled in June. He got a letter that it’s been rescheduled for July 2021. I read the forums and it seems like even n400 timelines are...

that sucks. I recall that I had a 3 hr transit via Moscow before I landed here so was I supposed to seek asylum there?

Good luck. It seems like things are moving now. What office is that? some offices were taking much longer than 6 months even before the pandemic.

Even that’s confusing for me because OP claims to have never entered the US until their eldest child was 23, so OP was obviously over 18. The information I read says that citizenship through grandparents can only be processed in the US and that too when the grandchild is under 18. Again this is...

i didn’t know this but just read about it. But it looks like this process has to be done before the child’s 18th birthday and has to be done in the US and not in an embassy abroad (after the grandchild enters US in any status). It doesnt seem like this happened with OP as they claim to have gone...

This story is confusing and not clear. @Eddieboy’s Mother is a United States citizen because she was born in the United States. But she never lived in the United States, so it’s confusing how did her children including @Eddieboy acquire US citizenship through her unless their father was a US...
