What happens if I've won the DS lottery but don't feel I'll be ready to move to the US next year?

Wow, what a gamble! Some people have entered the DV for a dozen or more years and never won. For me, it took 9 tries! Yeah, sure, you can try again but I'd put my money on you not getting selected again, if they even have another DV. Not being mean or anything, just realistic. Like slash_dot...

Sending the forms off in late-June is not too late, or late at all. They got mine in July and my case-number was in the low 700s. I got my interview and GC, no delay, no problems, no worries. From other selectees' experiences I've read, it seems it is better to get married first and send the...

It's very different this year so I don't think we'll know the answer until the beginning of August. That's when they'll release the September Visa Bulletin which will show the Advance Notification for DV2014 October cut-offs. For DV2013, my interview was in March and my case number was in the...

Great info, Nicole! Thanks for that. We've been using Citibank between Aus and US for money transferring as they seem to have the best exchange rates. The other big banks of Aus all seem to take a few percentage points off the current rate which seems like a rip-off. With online access, it's...

    Suggestion For DV-2015

Well if there is a DV2015 I think this makes perfect sense. A small fee, to help cover some of the cost. I think it would keep those who just apply on a whim, those who have no intention of seriously considering pursuing it if they won.

A quick question about *BLANK SPACES* in DSP-122

I thought you should write N/A too but I looked at the copy of my forms and just for your information, I left my parents' and my husbands' parents' middle-names blank because none of them have one. And they didn't have a problem with that. Not disputing what aos13 is saying nor am I sure if that...

WON the DV2014 but have problem

Is Mira like her nickname? or just the name everybody's been calling her instead of Mariam? It's not unusual for people to have nicknames. You could explain it that way - at the time of your application you naturally entered 'Mira' because that's what everyone calls her and you didn't think...

It always seemed stupid to hide numbers. I bet many people didn't realize they could try later and just chucked their confirmation numbers and forgot about it. The DV has been going on for years, you'd think they'd be able to gauge the progress of cases after a few years. I think there have been...

I reckon the first cut-off number (for October) will be higher than usual, say 400. Has to be, in order for them to get through the high numbers they've been giving out. I don't think I've ever heard of OC2000s before.

DV 2014 winner with wrong information on November application. Need some advice

I doubt they'd have a problem with this. Dandenong's a suburb of Melbourne. If they ask, just say what you said here, how you reckoned they wanted the city and not some obscure-sounding suburb. Aussie cities have so many suburbs. Took me years to know where about 75% of Perth's suburbs were...

Unless there's something that they question or need more information on, it's an on-the-spot decision: Welcome to the United States, and your visa is ready in a few days. Yes, you would expect more in depth process but no, this is a crazy easy permanent residency visa. I had a more in depth...

    ***!DV 2014 Selectee"s Report here!***

There are lots of CP-related threads but they are mostly for specific countries, or just specific questions about the process that could apply to anyone in any region. I haven't read much from South Americans - welcome to the board! If you like, you can create specific threads for SA or your...

Bittersweet thread these days ... feeling so bummed for Qewty and Sukie. :( I hope their other options come through. For all us successful DV2013s, our journeys through the GC process are coming to an end, with more and more of us making the move. This thread has been immensely helpful, not...

    Australian winner, what happens next?

Hi kester, did you not pay that new fee they brought in on Feb 1st of this year? It's above and beyond the DV fee you had to pay at your interview. You're supposed to have paid it online before POE and kept the receipt to show them. That's what I understand of your question, but correct me if...
