Sadsoul, I am very sorry for your situation. There is USCIS office in LA. Are you from LA? If yes, this is your USCIS local office, not Anaheim (Anaheim is asylum office and they dont give EAD). I think you should go there and clarify your situation. Make an info pass online on USCIS web site...

I changed my address too. I did next: file form A-11 on USCIS web site. Signed and dated it. You should Call you asylum office, and ask for their fax number, then fax them your form A-11. After few days call again asylum office to make sure that they changed your address. Mine they didnt change...

After 150 days you can apply for EAD, it will take about 2 months to get it. Driving license you can get now, if you are still in status. But still depend of the state. I got mine before I applied.

The average price is $5000.00. But you can find cheaper I guess. Some people do it without lawyer, read more on this forum and you will understand what is better for you. Also there is some churches which can give you a lawyer for free or with low coast, if you have relegeous asylum.
