I never received a yellow letter.
The only three things I received were: Receipt for N400 application, Notice to appear to do biometrics and Notice to appear for interview.
Just passed my naturalization interview this morning. I was LPR based on asylum, went back to COP once for 14 days with renewed NP and never applied for travel document. It was never brought up during the interview. Overall, it was a quick and short interview.
Taking the oath later today at...
iswaiting: Would you kindly keep me updated on these particular questions on N-400?
I am applying next month and my asylum case was sent to immigration judge before it was finally granted.
Thanks.
Atique, I must agree with you. It had been 10+ yrs since I applied for the asylum and the things have changed in my COP. My last visit was the first since 1998 and the real purpose was to attend my brother's wedding.
This will be my explanation when it comes the time to apply for my citizenship.
Just came back from my COP. I was away for two wks and came back using NP and AS 06 GC. Very smooth entry at Seatac, only asked one question: How long were you away?
I'm an AS6 GC holder and will be going back to COP in August for two wks for my brother's wedding.
Plan is to travel with GC and NP that I renewed back in 2006 after I've received my GC.
Will keep you guys posted on how that goes.
One thing that my lawyer told me was 'DATE'
Make sure you got all the time line down and be precise when answering (e.g. instead of saying "sometime in mid March 2007" say "March 17th 2007")
Good Luck to you!!
I haven't traveled outside the country since renewing my NP.
Next year I am planning to travel back to my COP using my NP and GC.
Will keep you guys posted.
I got my GC on 03/06 with AS06 status (asylum). The GC shows LPR since 03/05.
My question: If I married a US citizen, when would I be eligible to apply for naturalization? Three yrs or Five yrs from 03/05?
TortFeasore:
WOW!! Thanks for the info. Now, if I killed myself, would by decomp. body be free to travel without NP or RTD? ;)
Question: If I married a USC, would that get rid off all my AS6 troubles?
Thanks.
I renewed my NP in June after receiving my GC in March.
And now I'm kinda regreting doing that. I wished I had found this forum sooner.
Anyway, after hearing so many bad NP renewal cases, I got insider info from the consulate that I was not to tell them I applied for asylum. If I did, they...
I got my GC back in March, then renewed my NP in June from consulate in the US.
I wished I had known sooner not to renew my NP, with all this troubles what not.
I am really interested in others' (GC holder from asylum) experiences as far as coming back to the states with renewed NP.
