Hello, If I change my status from F-1 to H-1 here in us,and if I have to travel outside States... can I get the Visa stamped from Canada or do I have to get it only from the home country?

Hi, I am posting my message again as it is important for me to have inputs from any of you. Suppose a person on F-1( doing masters) changes his status to H-1, while being here in US itself and starts residency training....I believe if he ever leaves US, he will have to get H-1 stamped from US...

My best advise would be not to take J-1 in any case if you plan to join residency on H-1...take step-3 and apply next year!!

I am currently on F-1...have recently accepted a prematch offer from a hospital ...my licensure is under process...H-1 paperwork has also started...but the lawyer says it is better to go home before start of residency....in her opinion , changing my status here and then going home sometime...
