Change Oath Location for Name Change purposes

Huracan and Bobbysmith, Thanks to both of you. The immigration officer said, if I bring the name change certificate on the oath day, I could just ask them to change the name and come back the next day or two to pick up the certificate with my new name without fees. But since the process itself...

Change Oath Location for Name Change purposes

All, I had a successful Citizenship Interview yesterday, and passed, in San Francisco DO. I'd like to change my name and SF DO doesn't provide that service. I was wondering if anyone of you know, if it is possible to move my Oath Location (say, in Sacramento), that provides the name change...

    Citizenship Interview Experience

@Via Palermo, jattasylee, Paramvir1 and Cadel: Thank you so much. It was indeed a big relief to get this done. @Asylee13: I did get two speeding tix in the last 5 years, but they were under $500 and NOT DUI nor Drug related, so I didn't list them down, and didn't bring them up at the...

    Citizenship Interview Experience

All, I just had my interview today, and passed. And I wanted to thank everyone here for all the information that made it really easy for me to go thru the entire process. Anyway, here's my experience: Arrived by 2pm at 630 Sansome St, appointment was scheduled at 2.25pm. Got called in by...

    SF-Interview and Name Change

Well, my interview is scheduled for next week (9/1/09), so I guess it's a little late for me to start the name change process now anyway, right? I might as well wait until after the oath? Or do you have different opinion? Devi

    SF-Interview and Name Change

Oh no..... I'm so bummed to hear this. I was looking forward to my name change, but didn't realize that SF DO is not providing this service. I'd rather they charge me the fee as long as I don't have to go thru the process my self (posting ads etc.). Thanks for the info, though.

proof that I did not go to COP?

Not sure, but the story was kinda odd. Who would ask for any proof of NOT going somewhere. If anything, the proof required would be of going somewhere.

How long after the yellow letter for interview?(Washington DO)

There's a phone number listed on your NOA and fingerprint notification. Call that number, and then press 1, 2, and then 3. Then ask the first level IO to transfer you to the second level IO, who will have access to your status. Hope this helps.

Compuser, Here's just to give you an idea about my timeline, from the yellow letter to the IL. Devi

proof that I did not go to COP?

Oh, does it mean that you can't apply under marriage-based citizenship? I'm just trying to understand your case. If the IO makes it complicated, why don't you just wait and re apply later based on marriage to USC?

proof that I did not go to COP?

Another thing came to mind: Didn't you apply based on marriage to USC? If that was the case, why even bother about your former asylee status??

proof that I did not go to COP?

Is this for real??? What did the IO ask/tell you during the interview? At the end of interview? But either way, like Pete said, it shouldn't be complicated. Just send them everything you have. I just couldn't believe that they should ask you AFTER the interview. It doesn't sound like it makes a...

Thank you! Yeah, only a few days apart. I was ~ 1 month behind than most people tho. :(

No escalating calls to 2nd level IO - something recent?

USCIS should have given access for IO level 1 to begin with, so they can give us useful info other than what was listed online (that was never updated to begin with). So my point is, it's not our fault that we have to lie to IO level 1 to get thru to IO level 2. USCIS should have done a better...

    where to apply

Hahhaa. I was going to say the same thing. It's one thing coming in here to get information, but NOT checking the USCIS website at all is pure laziness!
