    It can't be just for the sake of showing some action that fingerprints are asked for, it could also very well be that your NC cleared but now fingerprints are out-of-date.

    wannabe_citizen, based on my experience and several others in this forum, if you don't have a criminal record, fingerprint results are returned with in 24 hours. This isn't name check, so you can't get the status of that check from FBI but in your case, you are only worried about fingerprints...

    You have a valid concern. Just call FBI @ 304 625 2000 to find out the status of your fingerprint Monday or Tuesday.

    Not quite accurate to say the lists are drawn from DMV databases. It is generally a combination of voter and motor registrations and also varies by county. Regardless, I second aabbcc11, do your duties as a citizen.

    First time applicant can't apply by mail, go to one of those thousands of passport application accepting places (post offices mostly). http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/ You as a naturalized citizen don't need birth certificate. You need to submit the original natz cert.

    NoJob, from where are you getting information like this? As far as I know H.R. 4477 "To authorize Federal judges to carry firearms." may be you are talking about H.R. 4437 which again as far as I know is practically dead. It is a bill from House and not a report. The senate doesn't change...
