The law is apparently pretty clear on one thing ... the 6 year cap applies to a continuous period of time spent in H1, H4 or L status, or *any combination of these*. So if are finishing 6 years on H1, you CANNOT go into H4...you will have to leave the country for a year and come back on H1 or H4...

I did capture time outside!!! I was *always* on employment...on *full* pay. Did long term implementations/projects overseas. So there was NO disruption to employment. And still got extension - all of 15 months! :-) Of course, there was an RFE. If you can show with supporting letters etc...
