FP was received in August 2001.

Thanks Ciba, Poactive for the response. I hear horror stories that some people have been waiting for years for the interview notice. Enjoy your permanent resident status....
Is it helpful to go to the local district office to inquire about the case? Can they confirm whether they have received the files, when they can schedule interview, verify mailing address etc.?
Thanks in advance

What is the local district INS office where the case was transferred? The reasons can be many, Communist party affiliations, past convictions or just pure random
What are the implications if you have already been transfered for interview, then decide to switch jobs (or laid off) as the the interview schedule can take years?
Any insight will be helpful...thanks.

INS will take similar amount of time to schedule your interview as it takes to approve a pending I-485. INS will honor your original PD, RD and ND and handle your case appropriately.
But again.....anything is possible.

It can take anywhere from 3-9months. The advantage is that you can go to the local INS office in person and inquire about the status.
What are your details. RD, ND and FP?
