    Naturalization Name Change Ordeal

You definitely need the correct NCCC! From my personal experience (naturalized in NYC recently), you need it for almost all new documents after you become a citizen, such as new SS card with your new name on and citizenship status, passport, DL, even new credit cards with your new name on...

Marriage to U.S. Citizen, but Living Apart on Weekdays, Gc Application

I-130 Instruction "What Documents Do You Need to Prove Family Relationship?" Read the instruction under that title. Item I says "Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. (Each affidavit must contain the full...

    name change and passport.

I totally agree that a naturalized citizen should register to vote. All I am saying is NYSDMV doesn't care to see your citizenship certificate to change your name on your DL as long as you can provide 6 pts ID. They don't even have a field on the form where you can check off your immigration...

    name change and passport.

That is strange. They should have asked you to sign a name change petition which has to be approved by the court. It will be given out during the oath ceremony. Are you sure you requested name change in your application? Or did you change your name already before you filed for naturalization?

    name change and passport.

Not in my nat cert. Maybe they do it differently in CA?? Anyway, my point is that check with your service providers to see what they need to change your name on record. The banks are usually the easiest because you can also walk into a branch to show your original documents. If you have to do it...

    name change and passport.

If you have credit cards under your old name, you might want to change them to reflect your name change. The credit card companies will want some proof. Sometimes, they will ask you to mail them a certified copy of your name change petition, which you should have received on oath day. That means...

    name change and passport.

I did. They didn't want it. All they cared was that I had six points of ID. The old DL suffices.

    name change and passport.

DL first, SSN next then passport That's how I did it. Here in NY they didn't even ask to see the nat cert at DMV. Just name change petition and old DL. SSA needs to see nat cert and name change petition. Passport agency needs to TAKE AWAY your nat cert so better do that the last. They will...

Does Name Change delay N400 processing?

In my case I think it did. I am from NYC and I also went through name change. I filed my application in early January, had interview in late May and took oath in late June. From what I saw among timelines here, it seems like some people finished their processes in as few as three months.

    Oath experience? What to bring/expect?

Oh by the way no phone or camera allowed. At least that is the case in Brooklyn NY.

    Oath experience? What to bring/expect?

No they don't have anything else other than the certs. We had about 240 people for oath so they would have needed a truck for the case file of every single one. ;)

    Oath experience? What to bring/expect?

Just make sure you bring the oath letter (N-445) and the current green card. If you have expired green cards, EADs, reentry permits etc. you can bring them to give them back too. If you don't, just make sure you don't use them ever again. I just did the oath today. Here in Brooklyn NY, they...
