    It varies from country to country and they are listed in the foreign affairs manual (FAM). Affidavits and Non-availability certificates are applicable for people from India. Check the Foreign Affairs manual for your country.

    I think you need to personally go to Bombay to get it stamped. It is illegal to be without proper travel documents, if for some god forbid reason you are being questioned.

    my guess is anywhere between 4 days to 2 weeks. They received my RFE on 6/2 and my case was approved on 6/14. All the best.

    nobody knows... it was in RFE status and I was trying to find out what exactly is the RFE. My lawyer did a Level 2 enquiry and week later I got the approval letter.
