jefkorn, I am wondering why dont you use your AP documents to go back to the US. i saw from your signature that you AP arrived on 11/08/06. You dont even need a visa stamp.
got the cards!
I just wanted to ping back onthe thread and confirm that I have received the green cards in my hand, which arrived in mail at my address on Nov 13, 06. They arrived while I was out of the country and re-entered the US using the ADIT stamp.
cards received
This is a belated update to my case. Cards in mail were received at my home on 11/13. I had already travelled out of the country after getting an ADIT/I551 stamp in my passport which I will use to enter the US and get hold of the physical green cards.
Approved!
I got the welcome notice email today! what a relief! but issues continue:
I doubt I am going to get the cards in mail by 11/10, and departing the country for a trip. I guess I need to get an INFOPASS and have that temp green card stamp, right?
Your case received an RFE. Your attorney should get it in mail over the next few days. After a response to this RFE is submitted, your case would then e queued for a potential approval.
ok so I found from my attorney is that I need an ADIT stamp if my case is approved prior to departing the US. But to get that stamp I need a I797 approval notice from USCIS. But what if I only have the approval email, but no notice?
Does anyone know if using AP is OK after finding out that I-485 is approved but the physical cards have not arrived. I would assume its OK. Any thoughts?
but hey, how do they know that one is aware of their GC approval? There are tons of people who do not subscribe to the email notifications of USCIS. They just find out about their GC once it arrives in mail. and I don't think they would go to the length of tracking your case to see if you...
Thats not true, please confirm with your legal contact. You should be able to use a valid AP document even though your cards have been issued to you. Now if you have the card in your posession it does not make sense for you to use AP instead of the card. I know of a lot of cases where people got...
A friend of mine got the 'welcome notice' email on 10/20. He got his cards in mail on 10/27. I dont know if he got any subsequent emails like you but cards seem to be a week out of the initial welcome notice.
I am hoping mine arrive sometime this week, as I am planning to travel...
1. If your I485/I140 was filed today, a receipt notice will be issued to your attorney containing the case number you can use to track your case online from the USCIS website. Get in touch with your attorney after 2-3 weeks for that.
2. Yes, next step for you is to get fingerprinting done...
Is your case EB2 or EB3. I have noticed that EB2 cases are moving faster than EB3 for some reason. I think not getting too many LUDs on your case is also good. You seem to be in the same bucket as my case was. I only got one LUD on 7/29 like yours before approval. You should expect approval real...
You do not seem to be aware of the current retrogression of dates for indian and chinese nationals in particular. Even if you are EB2, as an Indian citizen, you are only able to file a I-485 if your Labor was filed prior or on JAN'03. So your lawyer is right, you must wait.
