You have to trigger them somehow. Try initiate inquiry through customer service. This inquiry will trigger your 485 if your name check is complete...

If your congressmen is really good S/he can check both side USCIS and FBI. I don't think attorney can do much than you regarding status check...

No There won't be any notice/acknowledgement from USCIS. If you sent the AR-11 by fedex or UPS or any other way of mail with tracking number on it then "TRACKING NUMBER" is the key. Keep the receipt safe if you have any!
