Currently in 2nd year of 2YHRR, scheduled GC interview, will they waive the rest of the time?

Hi, my interview was yesterday and I was approved without any problems for the immigrant visa but the consul said that the remainder of the time on my 2YHRR could not be waived. So I have about 6 months left and when it gets close to the time when I will be done with it I need to call and...

Currently in 2nd year of 2YHRR, scheduled GC interview, will they waive the rest of the time?

It was a no objection waiver, after 1 yr on USAID funded J1 (non-medical), 3 yrs on F-1 and 3 yrs on H-1B. And no, they will not deny it as they already know that I am in the process of completing the 2YHRR as it is in the application. It happens all the time. Plus, we called the consulate and...

Currently in 2nd year of 2YHRR, scheduled GC interview, will they waive the rest of the time?

After a denied No Objection waiver, I decided to go back home and complete the 2YHRR. Meanwhile, my husband filed I-130 for me, which was approved and next month I have my interview scheduled at the US consulate in my country. By then I will have about 8-9 months left of the 2 years. Has anyone...

Can I Convert my J1 to H1-B or Student Visa?

I was on a J-1 with 2YHRR then moved on F-1 and then on H-1B. The first should be possible, just follow the steps needed to get to that status, the second is, I believe not possible anymore. My lawyer used a hole in the law at that time and somehow made it possible. Good luck.

How likely are hardship waivers and how long they take

Well, wouldn't I file it, not my husband? Plus, my son is a USC, and last the grounds are "Exceptional hardship to a United States citizen (or legal permanent resident) spouse or child of an exchange visitor". So what you are saying does not seem to be true... thanks anyway. Anyone else with...

How likely are hardship waivers and how long they take

I was denied a no objection waiver and I am currently doing my HRR. My son is with me and my husband, a GC holder, approved for citizenship and waiting for his name check to clear, is in the US. Anyone with experience on getting a hardship waiver, after a no objection one was denied? Do I stand...

Shold we wait for him to become a citizen to file a green card petition for me?

I was sponsored by USAID. I wonder if that was part of it. Maybe I misunderstood you then.:o

Shold we wait for him to become a citizen to file a green card petition for me?

Of course I did, it did not help. It was part of of the waiver app but not the central issue. Was it helpful to you? I guess they must have been specifically cruel to me to still deny it, if yours and many others' wasn't. No one knows really what's going on there... mind your tone pls...

Shold we wait for him to become a citizen to file a green card petition for me?

they, they - you know what I mean... I know name checks apply in all cases, what I was talking about is filing the I-130 at the consulate, but then I figured out that that is not possible anymore, but the interview still happens at the consulate. Did not file as hardship b/c the lawyers advised...

Shold we wait for him to become a citizen to file a green card petition for me?

One more question - are they still doing the CP? I thought that the I-130 should be filed where the petitioning spouse is a resident. Are you talking about what's after that?

2-year home residency requirement - has anyone proved that they have completed it?

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I was also under the impression that my vacations I spent back home count as time spent. Is there a place on the web where I can look at info about that? Please let me know if you can think of anything else.

2-year home residency requirement - has anyone proved that they have completed it?

I am currently fulfilling my 2-year requirement from a previous J1 I had 7 years ago. After that, I switched to F-1 and H-1B but last spring after being denied a waiver I decided to go back and get it over with. My husband will file a petition for me for a GC and I am interested in hearing from...

Shold we wait for him to become a citizen to file a green card petition for me?

Did I???? You bet I did and was cruelly denied. No objection + tons of support letters from congress delegation + tons of support docs from my employer + family separation (did not bring it up as hardship).
