Personally, it is more pragmatic to go in for the OCI than the PIO. The structure, the benefits, and the word "citizen" makes it more compelling than the PIO. Also, the OCI did come out way after the PIO and I feel covered the gaps versus the PIO.

There is plenty of time to get this done after they reach a certain age or into their next passport. Perhaps, dula citizenship will be made official(from what the PM Singh says) in the near future.

I too have heard thru a friend about how strict the officials are at Mumbai if you don't have the "U" visa with you. Luckily, they gave her 4-5 days and she managed to get the same from the USA and get the sticky situation resolved.
You can pay $ 20 ( I think) to get the visa stamped on...

Going by my date you should be ok. Maybe try to explain the situation to the office making this decision. You will have to go to the Northpoint office after you schedule an interview.

I agree with USGC. You should have no issues at all. Carry all the required documents. You citizenship is independent of your husband. Being unemployed has no bearing on you. Me and wife too just recd our citizenship approval in Nov (employ based) and I too was unemployed.

Arrived at 7 am and got done by around 1130am.
Worth the while to see how the whole ceremony unfolded ;)
