I applied back in September and I was just approved last week. So, be ready to wait a while. Then again, you may be lucky and get approved quickly. I don't know how the folks are the DHS work, but they are very inconsistent.

I don't know if the laws in France have changed since 9/11. But the old rule was that if you didn't get out of the airport, you didn't need a transit visa. But I would check with the French consulate to make sure. Good luck
