Re-entry Permit vs. SB-1 Returning Resident Visa

Thank you for the input. Is #1 better because it's much easier to get? I live 15 hours flight away from the US, so I may be willing to do more paperwork here than have to fly back to the US for fingerprinting...

Re-entry Permit vs. SB-1 Returning Resident Visa

Hi everyone. I am a GC holder living overseas due to US citizen spouse's overseas employment with a US company. I did get a 2 year re-entry permit before moving out of the US, but it will expire in about 6 months. We will not be moving back to the US within 6 months. From my research, it...

Finally approved after 2 years - my advice is not to move!

Thank you! Regarding how many days before the expiration of EAD to file renewal, of course I am going to answer that with a long anecdote. Last year I filed for renewal 6 months before the expiration since that's what it said on the website (http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/ead.htm#ead)...

Finally approved after 2 years - my advice is not to move!

Finally, after 2 years since filing I-485 based on marriage, I received the following email: "This case has been approved. On October 3, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To...

We received your response to our RFE...the remaining processing time will be less tha

I replied to a RFE on a I-485 (based on marriage) to California Service Center, receipt date 7/27/06. There was an LUD on 8/16/06, but not approval. I have set up an Infopass appointment for 9/28 (after 60 days of their receipt of RFE response), so I will see what they say...

    Worry about my EAD

When I was renewing my EAD last year (2005), I was worried about getting it back in time, so I applied about 5 1/2 months before expiration of EAD (Dec 2005). The card did come back on time, in Oct 2005, but the expiration on the card was still Dec 2005!! They had given me a replacement card...

Still NOT Concluded after AOS interview

I am replying to a 3 month-old posting...Did you get a decision regarding your I-485? I would like to know, because I am in a similar boat, though I have been waiting 1 1/2 years since the date of my AOS interview! (My interview was in Jan 2005, based on marriage). My advice is not to move if...

Waiting for GC for 2 years; What additional steps can I take?

Hello~. I am so glad I found this forum! Other people's eyes seem to glaze over when I try to explain what I am going through with the GC process :p I am married to a US citizen and filed I-485 in Oct 2004 in NYC through an attorney. We had an interview in Jan 2005 (I think the...

    Responded to RFE that’s basically a mini-interview

Here's my background info: I married a USC (met it school, dated 4 yrs before marriage) and filed I-485 in Oct 2004 in NYC. Had an interview in Jan 2005 (I think the interview was so fast because I was part of NYC’s ‘3-month’ program). Interviewing officer said I would have gotten the card...
