Refugee Travel Document vs Advance Parole?

Advance parole is just a piece of paper with your photo on it which will allow you to return to the US if you have your I-485 pending. It's not a substitute for a passport or a RTD which you will need to present at the port of entry into the OTHER country you are visiting. So, if you can't use...

Can Asylee with green card open a business?

Of course, man. think of yourself as of an American now! (sort of, anyway) I co-own biz too (S Corp). Don't know much about the details, we hired a lawyer to do the paperwork. Definitely yes!

    Please assist with 1-730 interview

My own experience as a derivative: I didn't go to the interview at all, because I was in the US on a tourist visa at that time. I went to the local INS with my approved I-730 and requested I-94 replacement. I received new I-94 marked as "Aylum granted, indefinite status..." sort of thing. It...

Everybody will get approved faster than we had anticipated

Doesn't say anything about asylees, but still sounds optimistic.

    Anyone arrested with an CIMT?

It says neither. It basically says, that if someone is a prostitute or a pimp, than they are in big trouble as far as immigration goes. It also says, that solicitation of a prostitute is not looked at the same way (good news). However, it doesn't say more and refers to that "Matter of Malone"...

    Approved, but no BIO????

Yes, it is backdated. As for the appointments, I guess it depends on where you live. It could also just be USCIS mess. Don't worry, you are fine, you have an approval letter, right?

    Approved, but no BIO????

The IO you saw at the local office was obviously a stupid b....ch. Don't panic, you are approved, you are fine. My case was similar, see my timeline. Call USCIS center where your case is pending (NSC?) and inquire. Last time I called them to update my address I couldn't believe how the service...

    airport experience

A friend of mine who is naturalized can't fly through Newark, because they detained him for an hour every time he flew throught that airport from abroad. Later he found out that it was because of some other guy who had had immigration problems and who happened to have the same name (very common...

Question about the primary and derivative asylees

I was a derivative and my case was approved one month before the principal case. I attribute this only to the fact that each case is handled separately and therefore can be handled by different immigration officers working faster or slower. To your questions: 1) Yes. If a derivative's filing...

When will I get my card?

I didn't receive any email about BIO. I think USCIS doesn't send them at all, at least I didn't hear that anybody would get one. Even my LUD didn't change at the time I received the letter. It was actually 6 weeks, not 3, before I received my BIO invitation. Good luck!

When will I get my card?

It took about 3 weeks to get a letter from USCIS scheduling me for a BIO. I GOT AN EMAIL TODAY THAT MY CARD HAS BEEN ORDERED! WOW, THEY ARE FAST!

When will I get my card?

My case was exactly the same, see my timeline below. I went to USCIS today (2-15-06) to get BIO done, I had received an invitation 3 weeks ago. The strange thing is that they did Code 2, not 3, which I have never done. They were not able to answer my question why. I have been approved since...

    mandatory TB test

Grassroot, I think FBI checks are connected with FP. I am a derivative and that's the only time when they took my fingerprints (2004). I will keep you updated once I hear from USCIS after I do my BIO. Good luck to you.

    mandatory TB test

GrassRoot, below are dates and details of communications from/to USCIS. My wife is the principal. We received RFI (medical) on the same date. Our children were born here, so they are citizens already, little brats :-) My Wife - Principal: ND: July 20 2002 FP: Nov 2004 Medical: Received...

    Renew Refugee Travel Document

You could do that. The timing is pretty tight though and with USCIS you never know. You could also do what Wantmygcnow suggested - apply for a new RTD and send a letter with it telling them that you can mail current valid RTD upon request. Good luck.

    Renew Refugee Travel Document

I assumed you have submitted I-485 already (what are you waiting for, man? :-) I think you will need to file I-485 first, then wait for receipt notice (I got mine within 2 weeks, but you have to make sure that you mail everything they need) and then file I-131 together with a copy of that...
