Why did you get that type of thought? Its pretty clear that you need to send only $20 for return postage along with OCI application and OCI fee, nothing else.

I second that. I did the Visa for my wife and received it within 1 week and yes they keep you notified with all the process which is much better system then OCI tracking.

Since you work in NYC, it doesn't hurt to go in personally and get things done, if they don't entertain you than you may always mail the passport. My 0.2 cents

Ditto, its a joke actually. I think they should have a process of Acknowledging the application immediately after receiving the package. Than have a different status "In Process" if found correct, "Returned back" if something is wrong ... etc .. etc ... That gives us public a clear picture...
