Renewing TN with the same employer

I don't think this would matter until NAFTA is actually changed, and if NAFTA were changed, renewing by mail would be be affected also. Absolutely! You can literally U-Turn and drive straight back the USA once you cross Canada border security. In fact, you may want to simply park on the USA...

    Computer System Analyst TN Category

There is no issue of "raising flags". Evaluation letters simply do not meet the requirements to obtain a TN permit. An actual degree is required. Or, a 2-year certificate/diploma + 3 years experience is required. Either of the above must be directly relevant to computer systems analysis.

    San Ysidro TN renew question

Yes, if you apply at the old building they will walk you over to the new building, so there's no point in going to the old building.

How long to get your TN offer

The USA has record-low unemployment and employers are more desperate than ever to get skilled employees. Employers don't care about NAFTA renegotiation and they have no clue the difference between different foreigner work visa types. Regardless, at this time, they're more willing than ever to...

Pros and cons of hiring an attorney to apply for TN visa at the Canada-US border crossing?

Hi Angie, I brought an attorney one TN application, and have made several other TN applications at various ports without an attorney. I have also visited other ports with an attorney for other reasons. An attorney generally can't help you on-the-spot with tricky questions. First off, an...

What were some questions you were asked during your tn visa interview?

"What's your job title" "Where is your company" "What will you be doing" "Where do you live now" "Do you have any children" "What's the name of the college program you graduated from" "Did you switch programs part-way through college" "Where are you planning to go" "When are you planning to...

    San Ysidro TN renew question

There is only 1 place to apply for a TN at San Ysidro. In my experience, you must enter Mexico, cross the bridge west, and then walk north to the new building. Present yourself to the officer and they will escort you to the room which Amberleaf talked about. When I tried to apply for my TN...

TN visa. Offer letter vs. TN employment letter.

Well you have to answer truthfully, but as nelsona mentioned, there's rarely if ever any questions.

TN visa. Offer letter vs. TN employment letter.

Yet the company-hired lawyers who write my letters usually include such language. Perhaps it's useless decoration, or perhaps experience has taught them it makes the application appear more bona fide? Neither me nor my lawyer have ever felt the need to change such language. I agree fully...

Any tips for the TN visa interview for "computer systems analyst?"

Make sure you understand what a "Computer Systems Analyst" is according to the occupational handbook, and make sure your actual job duties fall in line with the description. You can't really prepare for "trick questions" such as demanding you memorize your employer's address. Just concentrate...

How do the TN visa officers actually make sure you're working where you say you are?

This is no different than how do officers know a tourist or a student isn't working somewhere they're not authorized. That's their judgement call. Theoretically the officer could contact the employer to verify the job offer. It has never happened to me, but I also show up with a well prepared...

Tax guide for Canadians in USA?

Is anyone is aware of a tax guide designed to assist Canadians living & working in the USA? I am comfortable enough with taxes that I would prefer to do my own (vs. hand it all off to a preparer) On the other hand, there could be any number of important issues that may be relevant but...

Officer incorrectly gave 1-year TN instead of 3-year

I re-entered USA at a different POE. At that POE I asked the officer why my I-94 was for 1 year, because I believed I should have a 3 year permit. The officer shrugged and said "I only go by what was put on the I-94". I did not get a new I-94 and I did not feel confident to challenge the...

Renewal TN or Get A New TN

I think Smilegirl98's concern is that the officer may judge her 11 years of continuous TN employment at the same company as "immigrant intent" and reject another TN entry. I doubt anyone but a lawyer who assists with a large # of TN applications could quantify the risk of that happening. That...

TN visa. Offer letter vs. TN employment letter.

    - My offer letters are always addressed to DHS - It lists the specifics of the job (Short Company bio, duration, compensation, job duties) - It reiterates my education + states how my experience + education are a match for the job duties. - Is specific about which job category I am applying for...

TN visa for a new graduate

This is your biggest issue. You will almost certainly need a very well crafted application materials to convince a border officer that a "Business Communications" degree is directly applicable to "Computer Systems Analyst" Even with professional help... don't get your hopes up. These days...

Officer incorrectly gave 1-year TN instead of 3-year

So your roommate was granted a TN "permit" for 3 years, but the "I-94" was only 1 year. When he called the POE, they noted the discrepancy, and updated the I-94 to match the permit. My concern is, I don't know if the agent who processed my application really gave me a "permit" for 3 years. He...

Job offers eligible for TN visa

1a. I do not disclose my citizenship until asked, or until I have been extended an offer. 1b. 80 applications with not even a phone interview seems unusually low, especially in today's market. You may be screening yourself out of interviews in another way besides your status. 2a. There are...

TN visa and having a boyfriend in the US

Must disagree nelsona. Permanent Residents can sponsor their spouses' applications to also become permanent residents. The problem is that it has a lower priority / takes longer than Citizen sponsorship. Perhaps so long that it's not feasible for OP's situation.
