Police Certificate Clarification

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help clarify the police certificate requirement for the DV visa.
I’m a dual citizen currently living in Canada, so I’ll be getting my police certificate from here. However, I used to live in Ukraine and got a police certificate from there back in 2017. I haven’t lived in Ukraine since then—just visited for a few weeks here and there.
Do I still need to get a new police certificate from Ukraine, or would the one from 2017 be enough since I haven’t been a resident there since?
Also, if it’s not needed, does anyone know where I can find the official info to confirm that?

Considering the PCC is available online (per the reciprocity table) and you've been back to Ukraine since getting the initial PCC in 2017, my recommendation would be to get a new one.

Agree with mom. Note the wording on the instructions for selectees site:

Important: Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued.

Civil Documents

Doesn’t say not lived there since- and you have returned.

I am submitting my brother’s petition with my for my niece as deriving member, who has been living in Canada as a student since December 2023. As part of her civil documents, the NVC asked for police certificates from both her home country and Canada.

She obtained a police certificate from back home just before moving to Canada in December 2023. My questions are:
  • Should I upload the police certificate from back home dated December 2023, along with a new police certificate from Canada?
  • Does she need to obtain a new, more recent police certificate from home country, or is the one from December 2023 sufficient?
I would appreciate any guidance on these requirements.

This is the DV lottery forum. Is this DV related?
 
Asking about NVC related issues can be confusing to folks processing DV. As long as you understand this is a DV based sub-forum, and you’re limited in the number of non-DV based processing questions you can ask here.

The name of the thread is Police Certificate Clarification.

The name of the sub-forum is Lottery Visas DV.

The name of the main forum is immigration.com. The main forum has other sub-forums appropriate for family-based immigration.

I don't see why these thing are so difficult, all I asked the help on the same subject that other has regarding the Police Certification across the board, whatever you guys say, you guys are the owner, what to say
 
Considering you already got your initial question answered, all you needed to have done was to note a simple issue being pointed out - be mindful of not causing confusion for DV folks in a DV forum. Rather than take heed and move on, you felt a need to justify yourself and that attempt blew up in your face. Making a snarky comment asking us to change the title to DV only. Completely uncalled for. SMH!
