Hi BritSimon,
Appreciate everything you do. You are very kind to have created a support system for thousands of not millions who have been through DV lottery.
I began applying for DV lottery in 2009 and failed each time until DV2024 where I was selected with a very high case number. I reapplied again in DV2025 and won again with a high case number. Finally, in DV2026 I was yet again blessed with a win this time with a relatively safe case number. I belong to OC region. I look forward to all your informative videos.
Thanks

Sammy - FYI - people tend to mix up Sm1smom and I for some reason. But you and I have already chatted on my blog. Congrats again.

Congrats. Any idea why it failed for 13 years & then won thrice in a row? Did you happen to use photo that didn't fit the requirement or reused photos until 2024, that ended up not getting picked until that year?

I used new photo each time and I believe it always fit the photo requirements. As Britsimon mentioned the odds for Oceania is much more higher than other Regions and with more number of attempts you eventually get closer to to getting selected. I’m not sure but somewhere I read that the odds for ocean are like 1/20 attempts. Hope someone can correct me here if I’m wrong.

Makes sense. Always entered as a couple?

Hi Everyone,

I was fortunate to be selected in DV2026 for OC region with a low case number. I look forward to sharing my experience with the thread.

I have some questions.

1. I am dual citizen (Australia and EU). According to ChatGP, I will need to provide both passports of citizenship, plus citizenship certificate of EU passport country, plus evidence of how I naturalised (descent or residency).
Question 1: Is this true? What documents do I need to bring to consulate interview as a dual citizen?

2. According to ChatGPT, as a dual citizen, the Consular Officer (CO) will focus on my intention to reside in USA, and show evidence that my obligations to the US as an LPR (such as military service) are not in conflict with my two citizenships.
Question 2: Is this the case? Has anyone with dual citizenship had their interviews and can share their experience?

You can safely ignore what ChatGPT told you above as neither is accurate.

1. I’m guessing the first response is related to the background check that gets conducted as part of the interview process for everyone regardless if one has a single or gazillion nationalities.

2. You’ll be required to present your military papers if you’ve ever served in the military. This has nothing to do with being a dual national.

I got selected! I've applied numerous times over the years. I was selected around 2014 but I didn't follow through because my case number was quite high and also, I wasn't prepared in many ways. But things are different now, and my case number is OC9XX. This is a decent number, right?

Thank you @Sm1smom.

If I am fortunate to progress to interview, I will share the experience.

Congratulations @AussieInLDN.

From watching Brit Simon videos, seems under 1000 for OC is reasonably expected to score an interview.

It’s a lottery. What happens one year doesn’t affect what happens the next year.

Has anyone seen EU DV-2026 case numbers above 50.000?
Someone in a Facebook Georgian group said he got 58xxx, but I don’t know if that’s true. I’ve only seen EU numbers up to 48.000 in the DV26 Poll and in Reddit, and I don't have access to that FB group.

Translation: With 58***, will I get scheduled or am I hopeless?

It's very unlikely at this point, we would have more reports from people between 49 and 58k by now. Either not EU, or they meant 5800.

Congrats. How long have you been trying

Hello guys, I have 2 questions. I completed my high school diploma then I went to University but I didn't complete my degree, I only did 2 years. It was a 4 year program. I have worked in a hardware store, my previous employer and superviser from the hardware passed on 8 years ago.

1. In ds260 under your highest education completed, should I select high school diploma or university no degree?
2. Under previous employer, should I put employer phone number though he is late? As the box can't be left blank.
