validating green card on US transit stop through to Canada (for holiday in Canada)

We got our green cards and have til Aug 18 to validate. I'm the primary holder and will be flying from Australia to Canada in early August. I stop in LAX for couple hours, then fly to Denver for 4 hours, then finally arrive in Toronto. It's for a 2 week holiday only. We plan to move to the...

Derivatives entering US after primary applicant - who takes documents?

Hi, I assume derivatives can enter US later after principle/primary applicant as already entered? We may enter separated a few days apart. In this case, who carries all the documents? Obviusly we each carry our own passports, but what about marriage, birth certificates, medical records...

DV 2012 Australia Winners - Post Here

Our police records were sent directly to Sydney consulate. When you think the records have arrived at consulate, you can email the consulate and ask if they have received it (we did this). It is better this way (I think) - because you don't have to worry about losing them.

Selected DV2013! Have a few questions..

Oops!, your right. I thought it was 98, not 98*. Your number is very close to ours. We had our interview in April this year. Hence, your interview will likely be in April 2013. In this case, you can wait on police records, etc... until next year.

Selected DV2013! Have a few questions..

Michelle, I had interview in Sydney. First, your number is very low - you will be in the first lot of interviews, later this year (September, maybe). You put whole rank number on form. No problems if you haven't been to USA before. You cannot use PO Box as address (leave it blank for...

    DV Statistics

This is not necessarily true. Only a certain % of the DV's (I think 3%) can be issued to any particular region. The applications are not pooled all into one bucket and randomly chosen - doing this could result in one or more regions not having any selectees. The way the selection is done is...

    Aussie help....showing I completed year 10.

Hi Josh, You may have to go to the school where you graduated from year 10 and ask them if they have it on record. I think you will be ok for the interview. What might happen is that the case officer may just get a little annoyed for a moment because your case won't be a straight forward fill...

    Please Need Some Advice

Are you living in USA? If you are then aint you an illegal? You should leave and go thruogh dv process outside usa - but you're running out of time. Out of status is same as no visa. You can be out of status & still legally in usa if you have a pending status application, or, if you leave...

Do police certificates need to be obtained in the last six months?

Josh, This means your DV visa entry period cannot go beyond August - 3 months at most instead of usual 6 months. I know because we got our police records in August as well and recently had interview and they would only give us visa valid until August because of the police records.

    RCMP police check in Canada

We did our Canadan police record checks electronically through a private company. This is the best way, although expensive, as it takes only 3 days to complete the check. You must have name & fingerprint check for DV visa interview. Name check only is not good enough.

After you get the GC, can you visit as a tourist?

Did you get the DV activated on that day? I wonder how the officer would have reacted if you said you were there specifically to activate your DV.

Hi John, What did you tell the border officer your intent was in entering the US? Thanks.

finding US job after getting DV

I am wondering how people who have completed their interviews and got their DV are going finding a job in the US remotely from overseas? The job market is not great in US at the moment and harder if you apply for overseas.
