For immediate relatives of US citizens (parents, spouse and children < 21 yrs), you can file I-130 AND I-485 concurrently irrespective of their visa status here. You can also apply for their EAD and AP if they need.
Doesn't take that long for IV
menakarajendran,
Immigrant visa for immediate relatives (parents/spouses) won't take 5-7 years. Seems to be ~1 yr. Check out

CGcountdown & aneagleseyes,

Residence or to Adjust Status was received here for processing. It is taking
between 660 and 660 days for us to process this kind of case. We will
mail you a decision as soon as processing is...

gc_watcher,
The officer did not take new photos from me during the interview. I did take them as per new specs but he said the ones in file (side facing) are fine.
there is a "check appointment availability" link on the main page itself. You should look at that first before you type in the information for the actual appointment.
leanback,
My last LUD is still the date it got transferred to lcoal office and message is also the same. I was reading in other forums that once case gets transferred, the local office guys do not update the automated web system. So LUD doesn't change for transfer cases. And in case of...
Depends on the type of error. If you were married but filed as single, or if your total wages in 1040 is very less than the the wage described in LC, it *might* trigger an interview. Again, it might be just a random thing why your case got transferred. Just because it got transferred doesn't...
Taking I-94s might not be the worst part becuase if there is any doubt in officer's mind about your case or if he thinks it would take too long, he wouldn't even be taking I-94s. The best part is that your security thing got cleared. That is probably the single most delaying reason. I think its...
leanback,

I was interviewed today at San Jose office for Adjustment of Status and was approved and stamped (both mine and my wife's). Here is how it went. In a nutshell, it was much easier than convincing my neighborhood Subway guy to not put pickels on my sandwitch.
The wait:
We went there 15 minutes...

It is a given that your case would be transferred if you have been out of status or if you have criminal history (and I heard some AC-21 cases get transferred too). But even if your case doesn't fall into above categories, it could get transferred for other innocuous reasons like quality...
gc_watcher,
My lawyer told me that she is seeing lot of transfers to local office for quality assurance purposes. She says that she goes to San Jose office almost every day for her clients' interviews and lot of cases are straight-forward. Mine is also a simple case but I still have an...
