India Dual Citizenship Mega Thread (Merged)

There is no rush to get the property transferred in my name. I can get it done in the next year or two but I just want to make sure I will be able to do that with the OIC. (btw do I have to be present physically in India to get the property transferred or it can be done even if I am physically...

Thanks for the prompt reply. There is no pressing need to transfer property immediately but I have plans to go to India sometime after Feb 7, 2006 and based on what others have replied on this thread it seems unlikely that I will get my OIC by feb 2006 from cgi houston. I was hoping I could save...

Confirmation requested I am from India and I got my US citizenship a few months ago. I just want to re-confirm my understanding of PIO vs OIC. Since OIC does not seem to be happening any time soon would taking a PIO card allow me to get property transferred from my father to my name and hold it...

It all depends which is your service center and DO. In my wife's case it was San Antonio and she got here green card in a little over 7 weeks. Some other DO's are slower.

    Difficult case

Make sure you do not travel out of the US when out of status. You will be subject to 3/10 yr ban. Once your wife is a citizen you can file concurrently I-130,I-485 etc. Their website says if USC sponsor's out of status spouse they will be fine.

    Please comment. This is urgent

I have a photocopy of the english version of the birth certificate. I don't have the original. I also have a birth certificate in Hindi. What do I need to do if I have to use this Hindi version. Have it translated and signed by the translator or do I need to get it notarized in the US too?

    Question about I-130/I485 ?

Get an appointment and talk to them. Make sure you get something in writing that you asked them about your case. Maybe your case is lost somewhere and they may come back and say your case is denied because you did not reply in time while actually you never got any reply from them.

    Marriage FOR green card

I don't know what his motivation is. Maybe he is itching for a fight(argument) and get people the forum inflamed while he vents. All one should say is what he is looking for is illegal and he should not be posting such stuff here. And also if you dont want to follow the rules then one should...
