Processing time for green card based on asylum

Nothing out of what all applicants should do. It's the wait game.

Processing time for green card based on asylum

I filed 4 months after I became an asylee. I included the medical record in the original packet.

Which state are you in? DL in IL is valid for maximum of 4 years.

Your DMV didn’t know!!! Make sure you asks for a supervisor. That’s what I did with only I-94 and my current DL. The supervisor knew it right away, but they had to figure out a while how to put it in the system.

    Asylum approval letter

I went through this recently. My asylum was approved by an IJ on 05/31/23, and my I-94 was issued on 06/28/23. It took about 2 days to arrive. After you got your I-94, you can go to the SSA to update your SSN card to remove any restrictions. The catch is that the SSA does not take the physical...

    Immigration Judge Decision

By law, asylees are required to wait at least one year to file for adjustment of status. With a new order, we can early file the application. You have to make sure that the adjudication will happen after one year of approval date. An interview with an IO is very much like a conversation, not...

    Asylum years later

My lawyer devoted one section of the claim letter to address the filing outside the 1-year deadline. She based my case on "changed conditions in my country." Basically, she elaborated my timeline from the date of entry until the date of filing for asylum. She concluded that the change in...

Processing time for green card based on asylum

Mine is MSC239, so the year is followed by 9. However, I am unsure if it follows the pattern you mentioned or just a coincidence.

Mine is also MSC. I don't think IOE will be assigned for paper filing.

Processing time for green card based on asylum

Just like @seeker512 said, the medical exam result will not expire. You should include it in your application packet to prevent unnecessary delay. I also read somewhere recently that it is a must to include it; otherwise, the application will be rejected.

Processing time for green card based on asylum

Your lawyer's advice was based on the current policy, and he assumed that nothing would change in 6 months (Feb 2025). In my opinion, you should file now which you are eligible to file it early based on the current policy. Once your application is accepted into their system, they will not cancel...

Processing time for green card based on asylum

Please read my earlier post. It answered all about the fees. Anyway, I will answer your questions as below: 1. Yes, only by paper. You can put both forms in the same envelope because you are fling them concurrently. 2. Yes, you are correct that the filing fee for Form I-131 is $165 if you file...

Processing time for green card based on asylum

I don't think you can file Form I-131 online. After 04/01/2024, USCIS updated filing fees from Col 1 to Col 3. Fortunately, Form I-131 filing fee is cheaper than before from $220 to $165. This is if you file it alone not as part of Form I-485. You mentioned that you filed Form I-485 and it's...

Processing time for green card based on asylum

I know one refugee (not asylee) and his case had nothing to do with politics or involve the COP government. He became a refugee with the claim that he was beaten severely by his dad because he was part of the LGBTQ+. He must leave the country or else his dad would find him. He was still advised...

Processing time for green card based on asylum

I am not going to comment on anyone's style of expression, but in this case, I agree with @Asylee11. I don't mean to not believe what you said because I did believe you, but it does not represent the entire pool of outcomes. The person you referred to was lucky the interviewer did not or may not...
