Formerly filed and approved I-129F

Hello,

So, long story short, like 6 years ago I filed an i-129f and got approved, it was sent to the consulate in Moscow. Shortly before that, the fiance called it off with me, and I just forgot all about it and tried to move on with life. She never sent the documents she was supposed to nor went to the consulate. (I had contact with her, and she is married in Russia at this point)

Fast forward to today, and I have met someone that I am considering a future with (A much better choice, I might add, I have learned a bit hahaha). But now, I am worried that my previous petition is going to block a future one. What would I need to do at this point? Would they have already closed the case? Do i need to file anything additional if I filed a new i-129f? Who do I contact and how, if I need to do anything additional at this point to make sure I can still be approved? I am considering a CR-1 but, the K1 may be better, but I dont want it to be denied because of a stupid mistake from my past.

Thank you for your time and help.

So, he had filed for a K-1 visa for his ex-fiancée years ago, and they got approved. But just before she was supposed to go to the consulate, the relationship ended. She never sent the required documents, so the whole process never really started. My friend moved on with his life, and it wasn’t until recently, when he met someone new, that he started worrying about whether the old petition would block him from app

He decided to reach out to USCIS, and they told him that his old petition was most likely closed because there were no actions taken. So, he filed a new petition for his current partner, and everyth

I’d suggest you do the same: contact USCIS to confirm the status of the old petition. If it’s closed, you can just submit a new one for your new partner. Just be honest and mention the previous petition—it's not a big deal as long as you explain the situation clearly. In my friend's case, everything worked out fine, and now they’re on their way to getting their visa.

you're at a good place to start ! Based on what I’ve read and heard, it’s likely that your old I-129F petition was closed since no action was taken after the relationship ended. The best first step would be to contact USCIS to confirm the status of the old petition. If it is closed, you can file a new petition for your current partner. Just be sure to explain the situation clearly.
