Immigration Judge Decision

Hello Friends,
immigration judge said he will send a written decision. Just wondering how long it takes for a judge to mail decision? I am waiting for a month now.

Thanks

Do you know if your petition (asylum I am guessing) was granted? And did the government/ICE waive their appeal?

In my case, my petition was granted by IJ and government attorney waived their appeal meaning IJ's decision became final immediately.
IJ informed me that they would send the decision to my attorney by email by the end of the day and they did.

My hearing was in the morning, and I had IJ's electronic decision in PDF by 5PM that same day.

Thanks. Did you were given decision at court? I wasn’t even informed at the time of hearing. I will wait for sure.

Usually the writing decision are not given at the court. On my case the Judge told me I will receive the writing decision later on and I do wait 3 months.

Looks like you guys attended court hearing already.

Could you help on Few questions...
- Upon approval from IJ, one can apply for GC immediately Vs upon approval in interview one has to wait for 1 year to apply for GC?
- How was at the individual hearing(interaction w/ Judge as compared to the interview w/ immi officer)?
- In court, Is it specific you will be asked or you need to tell your story again?
- In court, is you answer most of the question or your attorney?

Thanks!!

By law, asylees are required to wait at least one year to file for adjustment of status. With a new order, we can early file the application. You have to make sure that the adjudication will happen after one year of approval date.

An interview with an IO is very much like a conversation, not interrogation. Basically, the IO will probe you with questions to clarify or confirm your story. At the court, you have an IJ and the prosecutor in the room. The proscecutor will try their best to contradict your story while the IJ will give you opportunity to respond. This is where you need to have a lawyer on your side. Questions are based on your claim when you submitted the asylum application.
