Can a failed refugee in canada (case was abandoned) apply for asylum in us?

Maybe not, because there is a Canada-US Safe Third Country Agreement, which generally requires you to apply for asylum in the first of the two countries you arrive in.

You mean you left Canada before they gave you a decision? Or you were denied asylum there? If you left without your case being finalised in Canada, its hard to get Asylum in the US but if you show them proof that Canada denied your claim, then Yes you can apply in the US.
