How to interpret Trump's tweet

Fair enough, thanks for the reply. Either way, curious about i-539 form being used to extend OPT? Does anyone have any experience with this?
I think I-539 allows you to change or extend status. OPT is not a status but a work permit under F1 category for definite time period. If it expires, I don’t think it can be extended but you can change from F1 to B1/B2 (for example)

I see, thanks. I'm looking to be able to continue employment. I'm pretty sure that's explicitly prohibited on the B visas. So if I can't extend F1, the only option is to seek to switch to TN for the first time, or leave and come back and apply for TN. This is all going to be contingent on the details of the EO and the length of its applicability it seems.

Correct. You need to know what will be paused and what exceptions are made before making a plan. Who knows, they might even pause I-539? So I’d just wait & watch for now. Lots of Americans have lost their jobs and even more might be lost. In such a situation, many people will support such a policy even if many might not say it outright for the fear of being called racist.

Fear mongering isn't over yet:

Sec. 6. Additional Measures. Within 30 days of the effective date of this proclamation, the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of State, shall review nonimmigrant programs and shall recommend to me other measures appropriate to stimulate the United States economy and ensure the prioritization, hiring, and employment of United States workers.

Still speculative. Whatever measures are decided (if any), they can be overturned or delayed by injunction by courts, judges, congress - #45 has no "absolute power" with vetos etc. Remember the fear around ending NAFTA? USMCA hasn't gone into effect and might not at this rate. With an election in just 6 months, I'm not surprised by all of the antics. When there's a new actual President in January, there will hopefully be calm and order restored and more options available for us and our safety.

How do u know if the new president will refine (better or worse) the TN or not.

Wait and see. Previous one established a 60 day grace period. Current one made no meaningful changes, yet. Term almost over and bigger problems.

Did anyone apply for new TN or to transfer it to new employer recently at land entry on Canadian border?
I am planning to apply for new TN fo a job in different state without cancelling my current TN so that I can have time to sell condo and prepare myself for relocation and give notice to current employer. Any suggestions?
I heard Mail application will take 4 to 8 months.
